Skilled independent IT processing is taking 6 months
Adelaide (phoned them today) said it is taking 6 months to process skilled independent IT people who are in Australia.

"6 months" is the formal official reply only.
Most of them seem to receive PR within 3-4 months. In some cases it is only 6 weeks.

Does that means that application process from outside of Australia will take longer
(more than 6 months)? Can a person visit Australia and then lodge an PR application?
If yes, how would he/she change his/her status after PR approval?

I think it is fair enough to get a visa so fast as an IT applicant.
I am on MODL, I have someone waiting for me with accomodation and advice and everything needed for a smooth relocation, plenty of jobs for my profession (3 job offers so far), 25,000 AUD and I have to wait 15 months. But, what can I do? I am not an IT-ist.

There are numerous examples on this thread of applications taking much less than 6
months from outside Australia. I know of one poster who got his pre-grant letter
about 2 months after initial application.

Hi, I am an IT-ist but have been waiting for almost 8 months. So not all of us get
Fast Tracked. Only those that have IT qualifications from Australia University (I was
told from the embassy in my country)
