skill assessment as a offset engineer?
hi there
just wanted to ask if anyone has gone through the skill assessment as a engineer (Mechanical for printing offset presses) as it looks like a mine field. spoke to an agent today and hes going to look into what my husbands job comes under. but it looks like we might hit a brick wall before we start.
cheers liza

Mine was quite tricky as I don't have a Mechanical Engineering Degree. I graduated in Physics & Electronics (Sheffield). Although I have a Masters in Advanced Mechanical Engineering from Warwick, Master's degrees don't count for anything.
I ended up writing about 8000 words for my Competancy Demonstration Report, but I'm told that was overkill.
If you have any specific questions send me an email offline - I'll be happy to go through the process. And I didn't use an immigration advisor, it seemed a complete waste of money. All the *real* work you have to do anyway (find degree certificates, write the report on experience, get details of all your addresses for the past 10 years etc - only you can do that). Admittidely I was living in Oz when I did it, and had friends around who had gone through the process, but I can't really see what the immigration advisor can do that's worth the money. All the neccessary info you can dig out yourself.
Cheers,
Roy
