Question SIR visa in WA

Hi,

can anyone help? We are looking into going to Australia on the SIR visa. We have friends in WA and so this is probably where we would want to go. When we first looked into that was fine. Now our potential agent has told us WA is a no go, that they are not participating in the system. However, we can't find anything to support this. We understand we would have to live in the suburbs and not anywhere near Perth City.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Speak to another agent and see what they say.

WA do participate in certain postcodes. The list can be found here

I'm sure WA participate in SIR, but not the Perth area. Check it out on the WA government pages. And if they do, get another agent. We had similarly idiotic advie with reference to Queensland and various visas. It turned out we knew more than the agents.

Visit http://www.migration.wa.gov.au

But before you accept a temporary visa like SIR, are you sure you cannot get STNI (permanent). Are you sure you cannot find an employer to sponsor you for ENS or RSMS (both permanent?)

If you go on SIR to WA you'll have to live a lot further out than the "suburbs", Mandurah is probably as close as you can get to Perth. And you're not allowed to work in the city either, so forget the idea of commuting.
