Default SIR VISA under 3291-11

i would really appreciate kind help....

i wish to apply for a SIR visa under ASCO Code 3291-11 (Office Manager) as this is the work i`m doing presently .My qualification is Master`s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

My doubts are:
1) Wheather i`ll be assessed positive by VETASSESS as my qualification is not in line with the work i`m currently doing?

2) The qualification required for OM is AQF diploma and has got 40 points in the list.If i`m a graduate wheather i`ll get 50 points for the same category?

3) Who will award those points VETASSESS or DIMIA?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Vetassess look at your education to award against a skilled occupation, NOT your work experience. I got a positive skill assessment based on my degree and i've never worked in that field since leaving Uni.

Many thanks,

As i`m not a working Mech Eng. so i`m considering other categories.

Office Manager(3291-11) , Business & Information Professional(2299-79)
resemble my job profile the most.

Applying in OM because job duties are clearly listed instead of this category being counted for 40 points and requires an Australian Diploma.
Will i get 50 points if i`m a Degree Holder?( If i get 40 it does`t take me anywhere)

If anyone could specify the job duties of 2299-79

Thanks in advance

Why on earth don't you see if you can get skill assessed as an engineer even if your work experience is in another skilled occupation? You might be able to qualify for a better visa than 495.

Thanks Jaj,

but its almost impossible to get myself assessed as an engineer because i`m not working in the field and Engineers Australia will require a detailed CDR ( Competency Demonstration Report ) to be prepared which i`ll be unable to.

again coming to the basic question.. can anyone shed light on..will i get 50 points for a 40 points category( and requires a diploma ), if i hold a bachelor`s degree?

Have you checked to see if your degree is accreditted under the Washington Accord. I am an EE and didn't need to do a CDR with Engineers Australia because my degree was accredited.
