Single mother/nurse & child care

Hello,
So I have started the application to emigrate with my daughter who is currently 8 will be 10 when we move. The problem is I am a nurse. I have no family in Australia.

How do other nurses cope with child care?
How much will I be looking at?
Is there any recommendations for me to start looking into now?

yes I have permission to take my daughter out of the UK. Although I have chosen Adelaid to move to is there any other states that would be recommended for a single parent?

Thank You in advance.

Hello. Welcome to BE.

Your daughter, being 10 when you move, could attend before and after school clubs. If you're talking about evening shift cover for evening/early/late/weekend work then I'm afraid you would probably have to look for a nanny. I've investigated this in Brisbane and it was $2,000 to engage a nanny agency and then you obviously pay the nanny ongoing for their time.

Why not contact possible places of work and ask what the nurses do there? You can obviously do as much research as possible, however, not wise to actually act on anything now if you're a while away from obtaining a visa and until you actually have the visa in your possession - an application is not a visa guarantee.

There is some good info here https://www.careforkids.com.au/newsl...t-working.html
Where there is reference (in the website link I've provided) for subsidy please note this is usually for much younger children attending day care centres (etc) - like a nursery - and dependent on which visa you are on.

Thank you very much for you information.
I am not booking anything now but I want to be as prepared as possible for when I do move if I do get the visa.
Thank you once again 🙂
