Default Singapore Hotels ...

OK folks ...

The time has come to book our flights and we are going to use Singapore.

We fancy two or three days to chill before we make the onward hop to Perth so a swish hotel is a must.

Looking for a child friendly (Our two boys are aged 3 and 1) with a little bit of class.

We can tolerate a one hour drive from the airport but nothing more, particularly after a 12 or 13 hour flight.

Recommend away ...

Best suggestion wins a nights free ale at our first Pool and BBQ party !

Mucho gracias

Go on Singapore's site and check out the stopover hotels. Most of them are excellent and very cheap. We are staying at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront for three nights, fairly central, two connecting rooms 5 star £250 for the four of us total stay. Apparently the other Copthorne is crap, don't go near it.

Changi Village Hotel, nice and modern, very reasonable rates, rooftop pool, walking distance from beach/waterfront, plenty of yummy hawker places to eat nearby open 24/7. Not very far from airport, approx 20 mins from city. We stayed a few weeks ago for 4 nights. Would definately go again.

Shangri-la is absolutely amazing, not cheap, but you can get a good deal if you book it last minute ish. About 20 mins in a taxi from the airport, and 5 mins max into city centre.

Ive not stayed in a bad hotel in singapore yet.
Have stayed at The Phoenix, Shangri-La and Raffles (for our honeymoon)

Out of the three I'd recommend The Shangri-La get a tower wing room.
All of the big hotels are about 20min drive from the airport.

Stayed in the Regent Hotel for 2 weeks in June, Out of this world I think it is 5 * not a bad price about $300 singapore inc local tax (£100), $35 for taxi from airport 30 mins. 5 min walk to Orchard Rd. If you drive for 1hr you will end up in Johor Bahru (malaysia). Check their website www.regenthotels.com
Enjoy yourselves a beautiful safe place. We hope to be in Perth early 2006.
