singapore hotel recomendations - transit hotel fully booked
i will be staying 12 hours in singapore early next week on way to BNE with a toddler. The transit hotel is fully booked at all terminals. Crown Paza tells me i have to part with 250GBP for 12 hours.
does any one else have any suggstions for hotels that are good, easy to get to and not going to burn a hole in my pocket. room service would be an advantage.

If you are prepared to go into the city (for 12 hours, is it worth it?) have a quick search as there are tons of threads on this, including one linked in my signature.
Alternatively check out Changi Village Hotel - it's not at the airport, it's in old Changi Village, quiet close but another world. Rooms are not very big but it has a lovely rooftop pool, great spa - the jacuzzi in the presidential suite has an awesome view! - and it's a pretty decent tourist class hotel.
(We stayed there on a spa weekend once when we lived in Singapore and couldn't spare the time to go further afield. )
Here I've found the link: http://www.stayvillage.com/home/index.aspx?page=home

the whole of singapore is booked out. some big food expo in town for three days - just my luck. i think i will change my flight times from singapore to brisbane. i don't want to wait hours for a taxi with a tired 2yo on my own.

Changi Village Hotel is grand. We stayed there last year, overnight on the way to Oz. With a 6 month old. The room was fine. I think we paid 99 for it, on last minute.com.
About 15 quid to get there in the cab - I think.

There is a place in Central Singapore called the South East Asia Hotel. It's not the best looking place but it is spotlessly clean and pretty central. Rooms are about $90 and the 20 minute taxi ride each way should be about $20.
No room service but there are loads of places to eat nearby.

If you are flying with Singapore Air, check out their offer called the Singapore Stopover. We used it on the way to Oz and stayed at the Singapore Ritz for the grand total of $40 plus i on check in i payed an extra $20 to upgrade to a club room that gives a lot of perks. They have a choice of hotels and the deal comes with transport to the hotel and back

cheaper and less effort to change flight and go straight thru. i will be knackered at the end but save at least $500.
