Silly question for electricans!

Hi,

We have just had our house inspected to check that it is safe to rent out in the UK.

We have been told that we need to replace all our metal light fittings (ie overhead lights x 5 which are very nice and were quite expensive) so that house passes the test.

As we are putting all our stuff in storage pending moving permanatly to Oz is it worth putting my lovely lights in storage ie will they be ok in Oz from the connection point of view? I am loath to see them sold for pennies and I do really love them....

Over to the experts!

Thanks, Cathy.

Depends on whether there is an earth in your wiring or not. We bought some from Bunnings, then when we got home and my OH was going to put them up, there was no earth so they are sat in the box still waiting for him to rewire the house. :D But we have a 40 year old house.
