I think this topic has gone well away. I am just stressing that is better to visit first and then to decide weather to involve into immigrating process.

On what base someone decides to immigrate ? On stories from ather, propaganda, insticts ? OK with them but this is not for me. No No.

I want to see the country, countriside, roads, to shop, to feel the athmosphere of my future home. For example I know some very repected countries but I could never live there because of many reasons such as: climate, attitude against the newcomers, job opportunity...

I think Australia should have such programm for inviting potential immigrants to come and see the country. I thnik they would certainly return and some may never want to come back again !

Can't be bothered to read all the replies but my advice to the original question is:

Just do it. Don't burn your bridges in the UK and if all goes well, stay out whatever.

If not, go home/elsewhere.

I had never been to NZ and just did it with the wife and now 2 kids. Nothing needs to be forever, just do it till you fancy some place else...

Sure, the organisation is a pain in the a**e but, you don't get nowt for nowt...

Sure you can go on HOLIDAY to your intended place of migration. However, I emphasise the HOLIDAY as that is all it will ever be.

Living in a place is VERY different to taking a HOLIDAY.

What happens when the novelty wears of in a few months time?

I think unready is planning on that. Unready also appears to be an expat and is aware of all the pitfalls and is coming to Oz with that in mind.

Unready I guess you are aware there is a Serb community already down here?

Yes, I know that there is large Serb community in A. They have clubs, churches, some of them are succesfull businesmen. They can give probably the best advice. Still I do not count too much on them and I think that they cannot help too much in migrating process. To get their help you need to have very close relatives which I don`t. So I will rely only on my own and of course my wife.

I wouldn`t call it that just HOLIDAY. For me it is more than that.

Probably I`ll wait for the next summer.

UnReady: I understand. You seem to have a good idea of what you hope to achieve.

Good luck.
