Short term rentals!!

Short term rentals!!
Did anyone else have trouble finding cheapish short term rentals? I arrive on wednesday and my mum and myself have trawled the net.
We wanted something nice as my parents are coming so its really a holiday for them, but we couldnt find anything for less than $2000 a week.
Have a really nice place booked now for a month, right in the city with pool, gym etc but just thought it was quite expensive at 400 a night(that was with a discount as staying for a month). are all short terms this much or was just looking in the wrong place?lol
My partner is living in sydney (surrey hills) at the moment and he is only paying $180 a week, so he was shocked to say the least..lol and when we lived here befor we was paying 340 a week in a huge 2 bed apartment right on a bay in vaucluse.
