Short term rent in Sydney
Hello - moving over to Sydney in Feb with my wife (my wife is suffering from the lack of sun here in the UK - well, she is from Miami). Although we have friends in Sydney to stay with on arrival, we'd prefer to arrange some kind of short term (ie a couple of months) rent in advance (or possibly when we get there). I just think it will be easier to job hunt etc if we have our own space/base.
Can anyone recommend a company/website or give any tips. We could do a holiday rental but, in my experience, they are usually well overpriced. I'm also a bit concerned about providing references/employment details to secure the rental - it's likely we'll arrive without work lined up (though we don't anticipate this lasting long - wife may have a job offer).
Obviously, the less money we spend the better - we're still young-ish and not coming over with vast amounts of money from a sold property. Any advice from people who have done this/are doing it will be gratefully received.
cheers

in my experience it isn't easy to find reasonably priced short term furnished rentals
the best i can suggest is something like www.rent-a-home.com.au
maybe book for a few weeks and then spend you're Saturdays chasing a proper rental - it worked for us
good luck with it

Re: Short term rent in Sydney
When you arrive, If you can spare the cash upfront try offering 3-6 months rent in advance, show a rental reference from the Uk and ID. . Most landlords would not turn this down.

If there is only two of you, the place where my company has put me up for 5 weeks may be OK. Its a sort of granny flat added on to the side of a main house. Its advertised as B&B, be we just took the room. I'll PM you the details...
