I had to find a new out fir for a 'posh wedding' this in it's self was a hard enough job!

No decent shops with nice clothes in, either really cheap and nasty 'fashion' clothes that looked chap and nasty or to the other extreme at Myers or David Jones, top notch but too expensive?

At least in the UK you had a good choice, even clothes from George in Asda were better quality than I can seem to get here.

Oh no - don't say that - hubby is expecting a heat wave all year round.

If it gets so cold, why don't the houses have central heating ? Do you have fires instead ?
We've got a wood burning stove and a small gas heater but I know it's not going to be enough as our huge living room is open plan with high ceilings so all the heat is going to be about 15 feet above our heads.

I think we will have to spend winter evenings in the dining room which is currently the kids playroom but has a gas point.

Some houses have RC aircon which heats as well as cools.

Because the clothes would be screamingly expensive compared to OZ wages. You know you were saying about those surf clothes shops, they are often in the tourist areas, because that is where the majority of their sales come from. Its not really possible for families on OZ wages to buy $90.00 shorts for kids or $60.00 T-shirts. Birthdays maybe but not everyday. Those shops hang on the tourist dollar and get a % from teens/twenties with jobs but no responsibilites financially.

The surf shops are generally a rip off unless it is sale time. Plus their gear is generally useless for surfing. They are beach fashion shops.

and I don't suppose I'll be needing my jumpers and thermals anyway !!
lol!
Oh, yes you will!!

I think they are in denial that for a portion of the year the weather is as crappy as the Motherland. Either that or they are cheap skates.
I think a combination of both!

Not looking forward to winter nights. Will definetly getting a good heater for the bathroom at least!!
