Default Shipping wooden goods

Hi all,

JUst a general query re shipping items.

We are sending several boxes and a wooden treasure chest (ahhhrrrrr me old hearties) via Seven Seas, but when I spoke to them yesterday they mentioned that if the chest isn't treated it could be quaranteened and subject to treatment and extra charges. Is this right? If so, how do people who are filling a container full of furniture etc get their stuff through or does it automatically get quaranteened? I've not heard of furniture getting that treatment though I do know garden furniture tenst etc might because of soil contaminants.

Anybody any experience of this? Or just general comments.

Thanks in advance,

Terry

ps. we go to Perth in 100 days (and its bloody dragging!!!!)

If the wood is ordinary UK bought , treated wood, you'll be fine. Do a search on the forum for the subject of importing wood and you will find more threads than you can shake a stick at.

Remove any soil fom ANY items, not just wood.

Quarantine charges can't be predicted by Seven Seas (or any importer as AQIS decide when they get the goods what they want to inspect. They then levy you with an inspection charge, plus a cost for any item that needs treating.
