Shipping Tools Over or Buy New

Shipping Tools Over or Buy New
Is it worth shipping over your tools for work or would you just buy new?
It takes so long to ship over your goods, it seems you have a long time to wait. This must affect you what ever your trade????
I am a Wall & Floor Tiler by trade myself, and I am not sure if it would be better to just fill a couple of tool boxes with hand tools and drills, mixer etc..
and then buy tile cutters, levels etc when I get there.
Anyone have an opinion on this please?

I'm sure someone will have a different opinion but it could be costly bringing tools with you. I'm a sparky BTW

All my 110v stuff was redundant as up here in my part of Australia I couldn't get them tested and tagged, well not strictly true, I couldn't get the transformer tested & tagged, something about it being center tapped to earth and failing the test. That made all my tools redundant so they're all collecting dust under the house. I replaced most of them with decent quality ones and still have them. I didn't replace the mixing drill, I buy a $25 buck drill from a cheapy cheap shop, burn it out after 12 months & chuck it away. Tools have to be tested & tagged every three months in QLD if you know a friendly sparkie it costs a box of coldies, if not it's about $5-8 bucks an item. NSW is monthly testing! There was a thread recently where a bloke had managed to get his 110v tools tested so there's no continuity of applying the rules
I've posted a link to DTA's site and to the Tilers Express one on your other thread. For cheap power tools you could try Trade Tools Direct They have some real bargains.
I tend to buy most of my tools from the local tile shop as I get a reasonable discount also if something breaks I take it in and borrow a spare [FOC] until it's fixed.
