Default Shipping timescales

Hi everyone

Need some advice and where else would I go but the good ole BE website....I have had 3 shipping companies out so far and another coming tomorrow. Glasgow to Adelaide on 6th October 2010...I have had 6 weeks, 8 - 10 weeks and today middle of Jan!!!!

Wondered if anyone could give me an idea of their own experiences of timescales??

We just did glasgow to sydney. It depends on a lot of factors - how busy they are, if you have a whole container or need it to be shared blah blah.

Crown and Doree Bonner were streets ahead of the rest for us. Particularly Gordon at Doree. Great guy. Get them all to give you a quote of how many cubic ft you have to take and then base the price on that. You can then compare them.

I agree, is it a shared container or sole use? We shared and in all it took 13 weeks. A big part of that was waiting for the container to be filled by other customers. Your agent should be able to give you a more definite timescale if you have sole use of a container. Ours were able to give dates, shipping routes, vessel details etc, they advised when vessels were loading etc. Press them for more details.

We have just been quoted 10 - 12 weeks, shared, by Doree Bonner from Fife to Perth.

We are going with them as the quote was the best and Steven (Edinburgh) was very professional and explained everything.

hi we had doree bonner
they quoted a 33 day shipping time( 8-10 weeks)
when they had our money that changed to a 60 day shipping (10-12 weeks)
they have now changed that again and its a 72 day sail ( 14-16 weeks)
so draw your own conclusions

5th Jan - Pickfords packed up all of our stuff, 17th March - all cleared customs etc and delivered to our house in Oz. Not a bad timescale but they broke some stuff and were assholes about the insurance lol

Hi there we used Crown Relocations, started ok with the quote and time of around 9 weeks. The packers came 26th May, our shipment left 5th July, we are now at 11th Sept and still have no goods I would not recommend Crown Relo they do not keep you informed, we hope to see our goods in around 2 weeks time, hopefully BTW it was a sole use container and cost £3700 excl insurance

Umm, do you actually know how many days in a week there are. Only your figures above don't make sense.

To OP, our packers came on 8th July and delivery is booked for 14th September, so about two months.

errrrr yes i do , 33 days is the sailing time they quote, which is in their estimate of 8 to 10 week turn around time from leaving your house to arriving at your new house, given waiting times at dock in uk and customes in freo
so that means as their sailing tiimes go up so does their times in weeks

8 weeks quoted for us. It depends on when the ship actually sails. Hope it's sooner, but not too worried.

Some have had their stuff within five weeks.

Crown said 10-12 weeks to us but it ended up being 8. Think its luck of the drawer maybe (if they can find someone elses stuff to go with yours and fill a container). Am sure there's lots of factors. Don't think you'll go wrong with Crown or DB. I researched it a lot and the rest have more complaints. Saying that none of them are ever going to be perfect. Its a big move and things can always go wrong

We had that also - Crown Relo gave us a login which we were tracking, but they did not update at all, so I tracked the ship and we were following it and it went to Singapore and we thought great it is on its way! Wrong, it then went to China, then back to Singapore and then was making its way back to UK Guessing either it went on a different Vessel or it was dropped off somewhere and picked up again. But we are still waiting! It arrived 19 Aug in Brisbane and nothing, still told it is waiting Customs Clearance!
