Shipping things less than 12 months old
For those who have shipped.
If you shipped new stuff over, did you include a copy of the invoice of said article Just bought a microwave oven that was on special, after pricing up Aus identical models. It is obviously brand new (boxed). It is a sort of leaving present. Hubby is going back as Aussie citizen. Will we get charged tax by the Aus customs? Or will they take no notice because there is just the one and obviously for personal use?

We shipped a pc and tumble dryer that were both almost brand new and declared them on the customs form.
They let both through with no questions asked.
But can we get anything to cook in them ? No.

They don't necessarily need the invoice.
I think if there is none they will apply GST to a perceived market value of the item in Australia.
(That is if they want to tax you)

I can honestly say that in all the time I've been on the site I've not seen anyone charged GST on importing their personal goods - and I'm sure if anyone had been charged they would have posted about it.
