Shipping small amounts
We have two or three boxes we want to ship to Sydney in a few months.
The boxes are about 1m x 50 x 50 or about the size of an old tea chest each.
Are there any cheap ways of sending them that anyone has used successfully
Thanks
Al

Re: Shipping small amounts
Slorry meant to say except excess baggage. they quote £300 for 3 boxes.
Ive had a quote for a container if i want to take my car and boxes for £1000, without clearance fees and i drove car to container with boxes in it.
This didnt include packing or landing fees and GST etc but if i can get a container for this then what can i get to ship 3 boxes if im nbot taking the car?
Anyone?
Thanks

300 pounds is a lot for 3 boxes. I was quoted 350 for 7 t chests via 1st Contact back in Sep last year and they actually use Excess Baggage (they are the people that turn up with the boxes). Check out my post here -

Al we are using sevenseas we have been quoted £85 for the first tea chest size box and £45 for each one after that. Book boxes for heavier items which are just a bit smaller than the tea chest size are £22.50 each. You pay a £50 deposit for the boxes to be delivered, they supply all the boxes tape bubble wrap pens and the deposit comes off your final bill. Then If i remember rightly you pay £25 customs charge on top of the final bill.
Our boxes arrived this week, we have 10 tea chest size and 10 book boxes. Any that you don't use as long as they are in good nick can be given back when your stuff is collected and you won't be charged for them.
Each size box has a max 40kg weight allowance.

Re: Shipping small amounts
I have had a quote from PSS. First box is £80 and then thereafter each box is £30. We over ordered on boxes (as suggested by PSS due to there being one free delivery and collection and if you require more boxes you pay for the extra delivery) and that came to £350 for ten. We paid a£50 quid deposit (which gets taken of the final cost) and we only pay for the boxes we use. I was getting quotes for 6 boxes from other shipping companies and they were all coming up about £300 and over so PSS is definitely the cheapest.
