Shipping LCD TV to Australia
Maybe this has been asked before, but is it worth shipping a NTSC LCD TV to Australia? Australia uses PAL system.
I am not sure if I should or not. Right now you can get a 32" LCD TV in the USA for USD350!! I can barely imagine how much will I sell mine used for.
If you have a Foxtel Setup box and an HDMI Output from the box, does a difference in NTSC/PAL Matter?
Does Foxtel boxes/cable boxes have HDMI outputs standard?
As always appreciate your comments/inputs/advice!!

Does it have a NTSC / PAL switchover? If so, it might work.
On the other hand, prices here are now fairly good. Strong Aus dollar, more demand etc have seen prices become reasonable.

As far as I know if your TV does not accept a PAL signal it won't play Aus TV, regardless of which cable you connect it with, hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

It is a Sharp Aquos 32". If I sell it off here I will prolly get about 100 even for it
ABCDiamond-which brands do you get for the prices you mentioned? Are prices on "thegoodguys", dicksmiths, harveynorman good indicators of price? or the price you pay if paying cash is lower?

True..A TV is not a big deal..additionally, if you buy at 20-30 % higher, you dont buy TV's everyday.
I just wonder why did North America decide on 110V? All my other appliances need to be sold too!!

Much of Europe was 110v for a while and has moved over to 240 ish. Canada has a 220v outlet just for your cooker. All very odd.

In the 2008 Boxing day sales, there was this one: Sharp 32” Aquos HD LCD TV $596
It would be interesting to see the prices this year
The prices I quoted were the cheapest "Dick Smiths own brand etc" from this weeks letterbox catalogue drops. But before any less for cash discounts.
Goodbuys prices can normally be discounted by about 12% for cash or Credit card, and that is just by showing a road club membership card
Other discounts depend on negotiation.

ABCDiamond,
Thanks that is useful information.
How do you get these Road membership cards? I have AAA here, but not sure what is the equivalent down under.

You don't need any memberships - almost every store is open to bargaining. They expect to be made an offer.

ok and 10-12% negotation is typical or in other words, do stores typically accept 10-12 % less that listed price?
