To ship or not to ship that is the question?

Hi, I am undecided on whether to ship contents of our home or not. Please could someone give me advice?

Hi Jamesy, thanks for that, but what about electrical items ie tele's, DVD and video's?

TVs is a no no, as they work on a different frequency in Oz. Mind you, we will probably take my sons portable so he can use it with the playstation. All other electrical equipment is ok! Oh and they say don't take wardrobes, the houses generally have huge walk in robes, which is good for me as I have heaps of clothes (which hubby will vouch for)

TV possibly won't work by being plugged in to the standard arial but would if you were to get cable / satellite and plug that box into TV with a scart lead. Video will play Australian bought tapes. DVD will only play Australian DVD's if it is multi-region. If you're not aware, DVD players are almost always encoded to only accept discs for the same region (UK / Europe is region 2, Oz is region 4). There are legitimate ways and means of unlocking the region of your player (search the web for DVD region hacks).
A good tip for electrical items is to buy a few 4-way power adapters in the UK and then just change the one plug on the end of it when you get there. Easier than changing all your plugs.
Have a look here for details of compatability of stuff.

We brought our tv and it works fine through an aussie video.

The UK video will play, but with no sound, so unless you can lip read its pretty crap:D

Our fridge in the UK is called a bar fridge here and sits outside the outdoor entertainments area and is full of "cold ones"

PS2 is fine, as is the stereo etc.
