Shiny new visa today - need a new passport now!
 

Hi All,

Had my new visa confirmed today :D, which was nice. My passport's about expired though, so I'll need to get another from Canberra. Got a couple of questions, if anyone's done this recently:

- Do I get to have my old passport back (with the corner removed or however they invalidate these days)?
- How do I go about getting the new visa re-evidenced in the new passport?

Yes, you get the old one back with the corner chopped off.
You take both passports to your local DIMIA office, and they will stick a label in the new one - I'm guessing yours would be Sydney? I took mine to Brisbane and they just did it on the spot, no appointment necessary, took 5 minutes. Getting the passport took about 3 weeks.
