We visited some friends who stay there - they were on the way back from Oz & we were enroute. The one on Sentosa (Singapore) is fantastic - quite pricey to stay but they do do offers which include either breakfast or buffet dinner.

When we visited this year we were toying with staying at one but it ended up much more expensive than the Singapore Stopovers that were offered by Singapore airlines. We stayed at the grand copthorne waterfront which is 4* & lovely. Would stay there again

We have stayed at Orange Grove Singapore hotel. As it was part of our honeymoon it was Mr W that knew the prices. It was enjoyable stay, food/drinks good. Also had helpful person to arrange/answer queries on location of things, but not sure if she was part of hotel or BA. Part of the things that you would expect from hotel like this.

We stayed at the Shangri-la in KL and the one near Kota Kinabolu - taking advantage of cheap rates when booking flights on Malaysian. Both were excellent - service impeccable. Staff incredibly polite and always smiling.

Just so you know the Shangri La in Sydney is what used to be the ANA hotel.

Just to add, we stayed at the Orange Grove Shangri-La, plus the one in Kuala Lumpur, plus the Rasa Saying in Penang on our honeymoon a few years ago and they were all better than excellent. In fact we returned to the Orange Grove Shangri-La on our return from Oz last year and it was still superb. It's in a quiet area and only about 10mins walk from 'happening' Orchard Road. The pool is fantastic as well.
If you can afford it I would recommend staying in one of the Horizon Club rooms.

The Sentosa Singapore one is fantastic for cooped-up kids who need to charge around. Brilliant service too.
