Question Seven Seas BNE import charges?

I've just seen a thread detailing the cost of unloading a container at Brisbane and all the charges involved! Nearly gave me a heart attack! Well after reviewing all these costs, we felt that we would be better off selling all our furniture and buying new in Aus.

We still have personal belongings we need to ship and are using Seven Seas. We are sending 14 tea chest boxes at a cost of around £750.

My question is can anyone give me an idea what the cost are involved with bringing the boxes through customs at BNE ?

Seven Seas have told me that shoes should be packed at the boxes so the inspectors don't have to rummage for them and that there is a cost of £45 (built into my quote) to cover this???

Is there any hidden costs I don’t know about? As far as I am aware this is a door to door service with Seven Seas.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Dont remember paying any with SS.

Good service, went out of their way to help. Only complaint (very small) was the online tracking lost the ship in the Timor Sea until it arrived in Melbourne.

I think you'll find that Fabie, who did the other thread, did the shipping herself. Seven Seas should incorporate the port charges into their quote, so that the only thing you will have to pay on arival is the Quarantine fee (AQIS), which depends on how much stuff they inspect.

We used Seven Seas to bring 8 boxes from UK to Canberra - boxes arrived two weeks ago. We had no extra costs to pay once the boxes arrived in Oz. I suppose it depepds on wether Customs actually open your boxes and inspect the contents. Maybe if they found something you hadn't declared then there would be extra charges. Our boxes arrived in perfect condition and didn't look as if they had been opened or touched in any way.
