Setting up a P.O box

Has anyone any experience of setting up a P.O box as a temporary address when first emigrating. I've been on the Australian Post Office website and found out where they all are, but absolutely no indication of what it costs or how to go about setting one up. I've emailed them 3 times with no response (Doesn't fill me with great confience, Mmm, Post office that doesn't return mail).

All I need is a small PO box in central Sydney, to get my mail, but I need the address before leaving Scotland.

Can any one tell me how much it costs and how to set one up remotely, how you all got on.

Please help!!

Cheers

You can't do it from the UK. You could ask a friend in Oz to do it for you, otherwise use post restante.

Re: Setting up a P.O box

Shamer,

I setup a PO Box with a company called MBE before I left Germany. We were given the address in advance, and I had to provide certain documentation (to prove id and proper address) upon arrival in Oz, before they would hand over the keys. The address you get given is called Suite xxx rather the PO Box xxx, so it almost looks like a fancy apartment address rather than a mailbox. You can also get other services from them, like inbound email & fax, and photocopying.

You can find out the nearest office in NSW here :
http://www.mbe.com.au/index/nsw_act_i.html

12 months rental cost me $169.

Cheers,
Paul.
