serviced apartments- sydney
Hi
We are a family of 6 ( children aged 1,3,4 and 5) and are arriving in Sydney April 10th . We need to find reasonable priced temporary accommodation - possibly a serviced apartment for the first week or so before we rent. Could any one recommend any please?
Thanks!

We stayed at the Medina Grand in the main city. It was a 3 bedroom apartment but as we were not paying I am not sure how expensive!!! It was not far from Darling Harbour or the Town Hall.

Hi. We booked through www.pacrimapartments.com.au (family of 5). They have various apartments and townhouses around North Sydney where we wanted to be for OH's work. We got very lucky and they put us in a lovely 3 bed townhouse on Arthur Street that they had recently acquired, although we only paid for a 2 bed apartment. They were helpful and friendly to deal with.
Depending on where you are looking to rent (we knew we wanted Upper North Shore/Northern Beaches) North Sydney is extremely convenient for house hunting as you are already on the "right" side of the bridge and can get onto the Pacific Highway in minutes, so if you're a bit nervous about driving in a new city it's handy not to have to cross the bridge all the time. (Obviously if you are thinking of South or West that won't be any good!). We did manage on the trains for the first week but were surprised at the lack of footpaths in the suburbs so once we started seriously looking at houses we needed a car. Excel car hire in the city are also good and cheaper than the big companies.

Forgot to say that only giving yourself a week to find/move into a rental is seriously pushing it. It took our kids a good 3 days to get over the jetlag for a start and finding the right property to rent isn't always easy. We were very lucky that when we found somewhere we liked the agent phoned the landlord and he said yes straightaway without any of the filling in an application/waiting to hear/producing lots of paperwork to prove income etc. that is the norm here. We had to up our budget considerably though when we realised that the properties that looked so good on the internet were dumps in reality!

Hi we are staying in the Meriton World Tower in a 3 bed serviced apartment. I believe they have a website with prices on. Its pretty good with kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, 2 bathrooms. They come and clean it a couple of times a week and provide tea, coffee, washing powder, sugar, milk. It is very high though - we are on the 74th floor! It took us about 10 days to find a house and we can move in this weekend so that will be 3 weeks after we arrived. We looked at about 10 all together and most were really grim for loads of money. The pictures on the websites make the houses look fantastic but when you get there they are really disappointing. We had to move really quick on our house too. We looked round it with other people then went straight to the agent with the application filled in and deposit. Not sure if this is the norm or whether we were just lucky but I was beginning to panic a bit as houses were going very fast.
Don't want to scare you but you will probably need longer than a week to sort everything out and recover from time difference. Good luck
