No, we are paying 32-35bn for inside plumbing! I used to work for a govt funded internet project that was delivered on time and to budget despite the best efforts of telstra but that in no way influences my... bugger it, spend the billions to keep me employed!

No, not Darwinian views on rape. Labor <> Hitler.

Apart from that, what better way to implement internet filtering or communications surveillance than a govt controlled NBN.

I think we've proved this theory.

Just back to the security thingy. It's a good job Johnny Howard was a regular attendee otherwise this may not have happened.

It's an extremely badly written article, I am none the wiser as to the charge that these people were convicted of or the circumstances that brought them to the attention of the law and as no names or references are included none of the claims can be substantiated. I certainly wouldnt cite this article as a reference piece on censorship in Australia.

BTW its either a judge or jury that sends people to jail not the NSW government

I sometimes ponder why countries seem reluctant to consolidate legal systems. The UK has 3 separate systems. Aus has the peculiar case that Christmas Island's legal system is based on Singaporean law. Which in theory means that it still has capital punishment.

There must be concern that legal precedent may become invalid or something.

As per each state NSW has its own Justice Dept http://www.lawlink.nsw.gov.au/lawlin...partment_index

NSW as per other states has its own laws and permits different standards of pornography. Those laws are passed by the various state governments. I find politicians love to express disgust and enact laws around it as the cost of enforcement and punishment is opaque and the media loves a disgusting porno article to get disgusted about.

Yours disgusted of the North Shore.

Today the communist party of australia have announced that they are going to quadruple the Family Tax Benefit part A for teenagers living at home from 50$/week to 208$/week - funded from "as yet unexplained" savings. This is for live-at-home 16,17, and 18yr olds. And its not a 1b$ policy, its only 0.7B$ so I guess it doesnt really make the radar.

Brilliant.

I tell you what I'm missing in this campaign is hearing about what labor are doing "for working families". I havn't heard it mentioned for over a week now. Have they "moved on" from this as well?

The problem with spending $43b on hospitals is that once it's spent it's gone. Spending it on something that will improves business will generate income to keep those hospitals open after the $43b has been spent.

Sometimes you have to invest rather than spend.
