sensible advice please
Hi everybody
I have just started on this forum and it's probably time for me to make an introduction. Hubby and I (both Singaporeans) started the Australian migration process in June 03 and through an agent here , managed to submit our application on 30 August. Have 2 boys - 8 and 3. Austimeline under cuthere. Completed medicals with 2 cardologists' reports (hubby's hypertension and my heart murmur ). Cardologists' reports were extremely favourable and sent off together with medicals on 3 Oct. PCC sent on 9 Oct. I know my timeline is already incredibly fast!!! But every day is still like an eternity. Because I have to give 3 months notice of resignation, my notice needs to go in by 3 Nov and I haven't heard anything on posting my bond. I hope to leave for Perth late Jan 2004 as the children's school term starts 2 Feb. Should I continue with my resignation or should I do the sensible thing and wait? Any advice will be welcomed. So far I have seen really sensible and helpful advice on this forum and I hope I can get some now...... cuthere |

Won't your boss understand if you walk upto him and say, "Look, my kids will lose a year if I dont leave in the next <x> weeks, so I really really have to go. Pretty please with sugar on the top" If your boss doesn't know about your plans to migrate, there are a dozen different stories you can use to get an early relase. But please do the sensible thing - its taken some people over 4 months after the meds to get the sticker. |

Are you trying to say that if i dont have my kids registered in a new school by the start of the next academic year (that would mean registering them by the time they break up in december a week after we get there) that they will lose a year of school, surely not, is it not a case of they can join at any point in the year. Dex, I am on 139 which has been fast-tracked at the moment and I can't imagine if I have to wait for another 3 months!!!! Hope it comes this week!!! Lynn - accordingly to my oz friends, the kids can join at any time of the year as long as you stay in the catchment area / school zone. But moving the kids is stressful enough and my personal feeling is not to let them join mid-year where they may find it even more difficult to fit in. cuthere |
