Sell your Soul Trip
Howdy
Doing a bit of wheeling and dealing in the way of pinging my CV around Oz recently (generally prostituting myself by way of t'internet) in the hope I'll get picked up by a nice Australian Company and be sponsored for a visa. Think it's the 457 that would get me there?
Anyway, had a bit of interest from companies in the Perth Area and wondering if it would be wise to get myself over there for a week to try and build up some relationships with aforesaid companies?
Probs could manage to get over there in three/four weeks, do a bit of an unofficial "Wanted Down Under" without Noddy Sawahliwallywahla or whatever you call her, have a look at Perth, try to sell myself to the companies, look at the housing, etc etc etc.
Just wanted any opinions on the idea, ie would it be deemed too pushy, or as having initiative, what's Perth like this time of year, would five days on the ground be enough to see what we required? Any Expats out there want to meet up for a beer and a chat etc, 457 a good idea? what about going for PR after?
Looking forward to any advice you guys can give

Good luck to you too mate.

Re: Sell your Soul Trip
Hello again
Decision made, recce trip here we come.
OH and I are off to Perth in a couple of weeks time, only spending 8 nights there but gonna make the most of it, have a look around, talk to prospective employer, check out the houses, and chill....................!
Need some advice though :
1) What's the weather/temperature like at the moment, day? night? trying to figure out what clothing to take.
2) On the subject of clothing, if I'm having an interview, is it customary to don the full suit or are things a bit more informal over there, would smart shirt, trousers (and sunnies) do the trick??
3) Want to bring the cameras and phones etc but can we use UK 240V ac gear in OZ or do we need adaptors for everything?
4) Any sightseeing anyone can suggest while we're there?
5) Any other advice greatly appreciated.

457 visa is a bad idea if you are eligible for a permanent visa.

Hmmmmn
A common way of thinking it seems....
PR is an option, eligibility on points is fine, few problem regards health and non migratory kids from former marriage (other threads i started) but principally okay.
Advantage, I see, is being out there very quickly, while the PR application muddles on, but undecided yet hence the recce.
Ta for opinions though
