Default Self-employed bank account

Hi

Can anyone recomend a bank account for self-employed people? The one we looked at seemed to charge for everything including taking money out and paying money in???? Cash and cheques, even if you are in credit!!!

Is it worth having one or shall we keep our money under the mattress? That's if we make any of course!!

Also if anyone has any info of where you can get help starting up your own business that would be great!

Thanks!

I'd be interested to here about this also. My wife and I have a joint account with the HSBC in Perth. Which works fine.

I have a graphic design business in the UK and would like to set up here also. Seems the Aussie banks would charge you for walking through their doors if they could.

I know! We've been really shocked. Managed to find a personal account that doesn't charge us anything but we have to keep a minimum of $5,000 in there. Why do you have to have a business account? Could we not open another personal account instead?

Get a HSBC Online Saver account for it, and use the Post Office for transactions. No fees

some Business info.

That's great especially as there is a Post Office 5 mins away! Thanks very much!

Think I may check with them in the week. I can have a personal account in addition to our joint account but not sure about using it for business. I'm sure there must be other self employed expats. Anybody out there using HSBC for a business account?
