Default Security alarms job

Are there many alarm companies in Oz compared to the UK and do you if any are looking to take on a qualified alarm specialist?

Also are home alarms as popular in Australia? do they get installed when a new home is built or later?

I was looking for Telecoms / Comms work in Adelaide and most of the few vacancies were for Security companies. In Adelaide ,at least, there seemed to be a real shortage of alarm specialists but you need to look at what licensing and security check/clearences will be required. You will need an ACMA Open Cablers license (equivalent to UK NVQ II or Aussie AQF II), I did mine with J B Hunter which was a week course but you may struggle without cabling/telecomms experience. You can do the course online from UK as well.
You also need to register you licence, I did mine with TITAB.

Try looking up the above for more info, and have a look at the jobsites. You will find it hard to look at the job adverts as no one seems to like to advertise pay rates but I was quoted AU$25-35 per hour for qualified experienced alarm techs/engineers.

Hope this helps.

My word $20 to $25 per hour for a trades person? Not a line of work I'd be looking to get into. Can get a lot more as a security guard
