Hi all,

We are moving into a new house in Secret Harbour and we need a few things doing to the house and wondered if you had any recommendations please? Who have you used? Anyone to stay clear of??

We are looking for

Air conditioning (Air Innovations in Pork Ken seem nice)
Some gates to close off garden
Sail shades
TV aerial
Cafe Blinds (looked at Aussie Outdoors in Mandurah)
Alarm company. Would like all windows and external doors sensored
Shutters

Any help would be appreciated.

With regards to air con, we used Secret Harbour Air Con. They are a small company based in SH (live on SH Boulevard). They are a nice bunch. If you're interested, I'll dig their number out for you.

Or Ford and Doonan in Mandurah - Cameron, their Manager lives in SH, he's a lovely bloke, although a bit dearer than SH air con.

Can't help with the other bits I'm afraid, but I'm sure others can

Hi there,
we used air innovation and had r/c panasonic a/c put in a couple of months ago. The system is very good that they advised (we have 4 zones) and works brilliantly, and they were also friendly and very tidy workmen. We also used port kennedy fencing which is just round the corner for our pool fencing and again very good job (they also knocked a bit off for cash) they do all gates and fencing.

Thanks for your post. The only place I've been so far for the air con was air innovations. The guys was really nice not pushy at all.

Can I ask what the heating on the reverse cycle performs like. We are in rented with a rc air con and its very loud and noisy and the heating doesn't distribute that evenly. I think its because the unit is cheap. Without a proper quote the guy said we are looking around $11k.

I will probably get Secret Harbour Air Con to come around to before making my decision.

p.s we drove past Rocking and Port Ken Fencing today. Not sure if that the same one as you used. Did you have to wait long to get the fencing done. We need it doing asap because the kids can't play in the garden until its closed off. Thanks again

Hi, the heating is really good, takes about 5 mins to heat up and so far we have only put it on a handful of times and each time have had to turn it off cause it gets too hot!! You can hear the outside unit in the bedroom it is outside of but can't hear it otherwise, I have heard other peoples a/c and ours is much quieter (don't know if that cause it's new though). The fencing company make to measure and took 2 weeks to make our fencing but I would imagine that if it's a standard size they might have it in stock (worth asking).
Oh and also air innovation did knock some off when my husband haggled with them so make sure you get other quotes aswell so you can play them against each other (we did that with the fencing aswell so it's worth trying). Also there's a fencing place called Crazy Pedros which is off Dixon Road they were cheaper than PK fencing but were going to take 8 weeks to supply, but we did need 20m of fencing plus the gate.
S xx p.s we paid $10,800 for the air con for 8 ducts with 4 zones, we were quoted about $11,000 if I remember rightly.

Our landlord had r/c a/c put in to our first rental and he used Air Innovations. We found them good - well organised, efficient, pleasant and they did the job in a morning, plus cleaned up the little mess they made. I think the system they fitted was about $10k, although we obviously didn't get the bill, but it was certainly a very effective system. Tbh, we found we used the heating more than the cooling, and apart from a few minutes of cool draft when it started, it warmed the house very quickly. We have also found that you don't need the heating on that long in the mornings as it warms up quite quickly, so the r/c heating was cost-effective for us - the heating was pretty instant. We now have a gas heater in our present rental, plus a radiator in dd's bedroom and it takes forever to get the rooms warm...

Our reverse cycle was about $8,500. They are a small company with low overheads. We've got 9 outlets with 5 zones I think

We are from the UK and adjusted very well in WA, these contacts may be of use

Air conditioning:
We found that they all offer the same, but Ford and Doonan seem to have a very good reputation, we had a quote from them and what was nice was that they did not pressure us with telephone calls to see if we had made our mind up, we will be going with them once the summer comes.

Gates:
We can highly recommend Classic Security who are based in Mandurah, they specialise in grills, security doors etc but will make any gate to order, we had this company fit a security door to our house.

Sails:
If you go on Wave designs for swimming pools they have a link to someone who does sails and they are based in Secret Harbour.

T.V aerials, sorry can't help as we have Foxtel

Security Alarms:

We were recommended a company called CIA Security, our neighbours had them and it was a pleasure to have a happy face come to the door to quote, he really put us at ease and was so proffessional, what secured it for us that he installed the systems himself and was based in Secret Harbour.

Shutters:

See Gates as Classic security also does shutters.

We know Darren from CIA. There are a few security companies based in Secret Harbour; everyone offers something different. You just have to satisfy yourself that you are getting a good deal from a reputable company

The beauty of having this site is things that would be so hard to find out are quite easy. If anyone else has some recommendations it would also be appreciated.
