Searching a job from Overseas

Searching a job from Overseas
Hi,
I know this question must have been answered 'n' number of times, but I would like your opinion regarding the job searching process and I'm doing it right:
1) I'm an ABAP (SAP) Consultant and received my PR visa (175) in August 2008. I have been applying for jobs via seek, mycareer, jobsjobsjobs since Feb 2009 but in vain. I have applied for like tons of jobs but couldnt manage to get any interview call . I wanted to get an honest opinion if I'm doing the right thing? Do you think it is absolutely necessary to be in Australia to be able to seek a job?
2) Suppose if I manage to get a job from Overseas and I resign from my current organization in my home country, I will have to serve a notice period of 2 months. Which means I will not be able to take up the job immediately in Oz and can join only after 2 months. Does employers in Australia consider this limitation while confirming a job? Do they insist on joining immediately? or will I be refused a job simply because i wont be able to join immediately? Im not sure how does it work in Oz...
Looking forward to some honest opinion.
Ronan

thanks Geelong Gent ...Guess I will have to quit my job and move quickly... I'm aware that job market isnt good at the moment...however would anyone recommend moving at this point of time...??? do you think its better to wait for sometime.. If yes, how much approx.???
I work in the Brissie area on Oracle/JDE and there seems to be a fair amount of work around here at the mo for ERP. South East QLD is a big user of SAP within the government – local council, health service, roads etc!
I use an agent who is fairly good and they specialise in the ERP sector. PM me for details if you like...
I agree about being out here job hunting, it’s the best way. A few people I know just come for a holiday and then line up as many interviews as possible. Secure a job (well, try!?!) and then head back to the UK to resign and start the move out.
If you've got the visa already, it makes the process a whole lot simpler!
Good luck.

Hi
Just to repeat the above advice, you really need to be here to get empoyers interested. I know some people have been able to fix up a job prior to arrival but I think that's getting harder and harder now.
My OH had made contact with a few people before we came out and they were interested in him but very non comittal, within 2 weeks of arrival, he had 2 job offers from them. So you just need to be here!
Good luck
