SE Qld & north coast NSW weather this week
http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/wrap_fwo.pl?IDQ10700.txt
Todays forecast from the Bureau.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
A developing upper level trough should move across southern Queensland during the week, producing areas of significant rain, isolated storms and gusty winds from the southern districts across to the central coast and central highlands districts. Moderate to locally heavy falls are forecast for Tuesday for the state's southeast and southern interior, with heavier falls more likely in the southeast districts on Wednesday.
A surface trough or low is also expected to form along or off the southeast coast by Wednesday, significantly increasing winds and waves south of Sandy Cape.
======================================
Tuesday and Wednesday likely to be the worst, they aren't sure on Thursday yet until they see how the troughs move.
There is a strong possibiity of damage to trees, or to already weak or loose roof tiles etc. Strong to gale force winds are likely, and the rain could be locally very heavy.
Get the garden stuff indoors, the Bureau sound like they are taking it seriously.

Would be more than happy to have the rain. We've had a few baths recently and it's a big bugger High winds and falling trees I can do without but beggars can't be choosers.
Thanks for the heads up Poll. Haven't seen the weather reports for a few days.

Re: SE Qld & north coast NSW weather this week
SEVERE WEATHER WARNING just issued by the Bureau for Flash Flooding
For people in the Southeast Coast District and the Wide Bay and Burnett district south of Sandy Cape
Synoptic Situation:
A strong upper low will move across southern Queensland during the next few
days. As it moves eastward, this system will generate a strong surface trough
about the southern coast. Areas of heavy rain are expected to develop about the Southeast Coast district and the Wide Bay and Burnett district south of Sandy Cape from Tuesday night and extending into Wednesday and Thursday. Some localised flash flooding is possible associated with the heavier falls.
Winds around the southern coast are expected to increase from about mid week.

Re: SE Qld & north coast NSW weather this week
Warning Issued by the Bureau is below. These waves are likely to be very dangerous and the tides will be very high.
SEVERE WEATHER WARNING for Damaging Winds, and Abnormally High Tides and Dangerous Surf
For people in coastal parts of the Southeast Coast forecast district and Fraser
Island. Issued at 5:40 pm on Friday 22 May 2009
Synoptic Situation:
A deep low pressure trough lies near the northern NSW coast, and is expected to move north on Saturday.
This trough, with help from a strong high over the Tasman Sea, is currently
producing strong gales and extremely dangerous waves along the NSW coast, and these winds and waves should move into southeast Queensland during Saturday, affecting Fraser Island and areas further south including the Gold Coast, islands and Sunshine Coast.
So the current VERY DANGEROUS SURF conditions in the southeast will become EVEN MORE DANGEROUS tomorrow. Very large, strong and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS waves are expected to develop along with gale force onshore winds in waters from the QLD/NSW border up to Sandy Cape [on Fraser Island] late on Saturday. Beach erosion and coastal inundation should get worse tonight and tomorrow in the warning area as the waves and tides increase, particularly during tomorrow as the waves and winds rapidly increase.
Sea levels within canal and protected waters could rise above the highest tide
level of the year, but the EXPOSED BEACHES WILL BE THE MOST VULNERABLE, with wave driven sea flooding of exposed beaches expected to produce VERY DANGEROUS CONDITIONS ON EXPOSED BEACHES, particularly on the Gold Coast tonight, and throughout the warning area, including the Gold Coast again tomorrow.
However very large waves, dangerous inundation and erosion is not expected
within Moreton Bay. Damaging winds with gusts to 100 km/h may also develop about the exposed coast and ranges of the southeast coast forecast district during Saturday.
The State Emergency Service advises that people in the affected area should:
· if near the coastline, stay well away from the water's edge
· secure loose outdoor items
Contact the SES on 132 500 for emergency assistance if required.
