Default The SE QLD Drought is over

It's official, the drought is over.

Combined dam levels today were:
62.6% at 9am
67.5% at 5pm

Expected to be 70% by the end of the week.

Bribie Island had 468mm rain in last 24 hours, that's about 6 months rainfall in one day.

Some areas have had the heaviest rain in 17 years.

As much as I disagree wth 99.9% of whatever she says, I think this is a good idea because if there is a bad season or two, or three, we could find ourselves back in the same spot we were in when dams were nearly dry.

In the Redlands we have been on water restrictions since I arrived in in 2002, and it worked so well, that Brisbane, who avoided restrictions for much of that time, wanted our water

I think a form of water restriction all the time, does keep it in the mind to be carefull, and makes it easier to save water when needed.

I'm claiming direct responsibility.

Since we landed here in Jan 08 its done nothing but rain - same as it did when I lived in Yorkshire and Mid Wales.

Year before I moved to Yorkshire - empty reservoirs, standpipes and hosepipe bans. Year after I moved to Yorkshire, worst flooding in 25 years.

Its like that here now!

I am available for hire to other states, please contact my agent for further details (and I can only apologise in advance if we do move to NSW later this year)
