Scuba diving training in Sydney
Anyone have any recommendations for a scuba diving school near Sydney?
Somewhere where I can do a 3 to 5 day course and get my PADI open water
cert? Non-residential preferred.
Thanks,

Pro Dive in Manly is good too, but more geared to regular divers. Their trips away, live aboards, are meant to be very good.

I used the Dive Centre at Bondi. OK but their vehicles are falling apart. The training and equipment was OK but the other students were a nightmare.

DC Manly is just as bad for it's vehicles.

There were only 2 other students. One decided to turn up to the open water five totally congested and with flu. She decided that de-congestants were the answer despite the theory saying you are a nutter if you do so. She then had to pull out of the seconf dive and consuquently failed the course. The other one was ok but she failed the theory and had motion sickness 10ms under. Luckily we had just finished the techniques and passed.

I'm pretty central (I live overlooking Hyde Park) so anywhere within train
or bus distance is fine... cheers.

From Hyde Park you can get the L82, 380 or 382. Go past Bondi Junction and the Dive Centre is on your left about a third of the way down Bondi Road.

Pro Dive have an office in the city

I just used pro-dive for a double boat dive at Nelsons Bay and they were professional and the kit was in good condition.

You could jump on the Manly ferry and try out Pro Dive or Dive Centre here.
As you exit the wharf, follow the crowd straight ahead across the road. Bear left away from the main flow and head down Gilbert - taxi rank on your left cop shop on right. DC Manly is not far up on the right.
Keep going, maybe another 10 minute walk and PD in on the right.
I've heard good things about ProDive, both the city and Manly shops.
