Sciencey things to do in Melbourne?

I'm going to be in Melbourne with my 7yo next Monday. I'd like to take him to something science-related. It should be a school day for him, so I want to link in with what he's doing at school at the moment in a particular unit. This unit is called ‘Making and Breaking’ and it looks at how materials are combined and how alterations can occur with varying substances. Google has suggested:
  1. Melbourne Museum. ...
  2. Scienceworks. ...
  3. Melbourne Planetarium. ...
  4. Discovery Science and Technology Centre. ...
  5. Twisted Science. ...
  6. Victorian Space Science Education Centre.
We already visited 2 & 3 a couple of weeks ago. 4 and 5 are closed on Mondays. 6 is only for school & group bookings. Melbourne Museum is excellent, but doesn't fit the brief for us right now.

Anyone got any insights, hints, tips, etc? It doesn't have to be literally in Melbourne, but preferably on our way home at least (which is 300km north).

Cheers
