Schools Brisbane

Hello
I'm sure there's a thread here somewhere but I'm working off the I phone
so any help would be appreciated

Were moving to Brisbane in Feb, but were getting a free house for a bit with
my wifes visa
Were not sure on the suburb we will finally settle to, so my question is , how long in advance do you have to apply for your kids to get in to state schools? , were hoping we can apply when we get to Auatralia after
we've found our preferred suburb ?
I've been there before abd we've done the real estate
searches, but I don't want to commit to a school from the UK
Thanks

If you are living in the catchment of a state school, that school will take you immediately.

Ok
So hypothetically , if we choose Paddington, we can join the secondary schools within this catchment at any time ?even at short notice when we arrive in Brisbane

Yes, any state school has to take you immediately as long as you can prove you live in their catchment - be careful with catchment areas, sometimes one side of a street will be in one schools's catchment and the other side a different catchment.
