Schools
I am currently doing research on schools in and around Brisbane
and there seems to be a large number of religious schools
(Catholic/Lutheran/Anglican/Adventists etc).
I was just wondering whether entry to these schools are
open to everyone or just to members of that religion.
Also I read in one of the schools that they were authorised to take oversea students. If you're on a Temp 457 visa, do your children count as oversea students? Also is there a list of the
schools that can't take oversea students as then I could ignore
those as I'd hate to get keen on a school and then find it can't take anyone from overseas.
Thanks for any help
Karen

A small addition
In an earlier hread about school charges someone mentioned
a document outlining how scholl charges work for temp457
visa holders (http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/media...nts/parents.pdf)
does anyone know if there is an equivalent document for Queensland. I've had a quick search on Google, but haven't found anything yet
Thanks Karen

Karen, in general you usually dont have to be a specific denomination to go to a private school of that denomination. They almost always have places for the general public. However many private schools have waiting lists, so its worth checking how long the wait may be.
As for the 457 visa, I know in NSW you have to pay for state schools, someone once said that it was aust wide, but I have doubts, especially as jayr said that he hasnt had to pay here in Qld (hes on a 457 visa). I know they asked on my schools enrollment form if we were citizens or PR (or something along those lines), but Im not sure what the question was asked for.
