Default schooling - perm visa

Hi, probably a silly question, but....
We have a 136 permanent visa, will be arriving Feb/March, is schooling free for our children if we are permanent residents?
Thanks in advance x

Mainly free. Some charges/contributions may be applied (Australians pay the same).

There are fees - our school is, i think just under $200 for 2008 which can be paid in 2 instalments plus the cost of books (approx $80). Our nieces school has the book costs but not the yearly fees.
