Gday!

I have 2 boys. One four and half and the other is one and half. Planning to be in Mel/Vic. How should i go about getting schooling sorted out?

If I am correct in my thinking kids in Oz start school a year later than those in England and Ireland (age 4 here) so you should be fine.

If you want to get them into kindy I'd start looking just to get a feel for what's available / on offer.

Just google pre school education melbourne and see what comes back.

This page has a chart which tells you age at entry into particular school programs in all the states. It is comparing with WA so hope that is not a confusion. If your son will turn 5 before April 30 next year then he would begin full time schooling next year. If after that date then you would be looking at the part time schooling option (preschool).

Most schools will tell you to work out where you are going to be living first then find the school. I dont know about Victoria but schools have catchment areas and often they will decline to enrol a child who is not in their catchment especially if they are full and there is a high demand. You could find a school which really appeals to you but then be unable to find a house you would want to live in!!! (or could afford to buy!!!)
