Like me, it seems many of us thought the school kids bonus was dead and buried but it seems the law hasn't passed yet so good news to those of us facing big $$$ for book orders, the school kids bonus is still being paid to those eligible 3-17th of January 2014

I'm still waiting for mine. It says it should be paid by 17th, but not to contact them til after the 20th if you haven't received it.

Received ours yesterday, $810 for two high schoolers... have to say I have nearly spent it all on new shoes, trainers, maths caluculators, trousers, shirts and then all the books etc... doesn't go far even though it seems like a lot at the time..

I just get the primary school $200 ish but even that's a real help for me. It will cover the books/stationery and help towards some new uniform. My girl is like a runner bean that keeps on growing - she's taller than me now and she's only 11.

Yep got mine, $820 for 3 kids last Tuesday, if you check online on centrelink it should show when payments are made.

Our eldest book order alone was $400 nearly so a huge help as need more uniforms etc as well.

I just checked online now, it wasn't showing yesterday, but this morning it shows that I'll get paid on Friday. Which is great because I have the day off and can go shopping, hopefully when it's not too busy!

I'm dreading next year when she goes up to High School with all the associated increased in costs/fees and a whole load of new school uniform especially now that the School Kids Bonus is going.

Hi all,

Is this something that every child in Australia is entitled too? I have never heard of it, I didn't know it existed. I was under the impression all parents bought their children's books/equipment with their own money.

You get it automatically it you are eligible to Family Tax benefit A from Centrelink, although this will be likely to be the last time that payment will be made as they are scrapping it, the law just didn't pass in time for time round.
