Depends on the state. As far as I know it's yes in NSW for example.

Dependants of temporary residents
Dependants whose parents are holding 'temporary resident visas generally are permitted to study by DIMA. They may enrol in any primary or secondary school on the same conditions as Australian students and permanent residents for as long as their parents remain in Australia with Temporary Resident status. Students will be on 'temporary resident visa status as defined by DIMA.
