Default school fee questions

im going to the Gold coast on a student visa & have been quoted $8000 per year per child.
would it be a simular price to send them to a private school?
would i continue paying for them after my 2 year course while working towards pr?

Depends on the age of the child, we check to send our eldest into private, got quoted for over $14,000.

I think it all depends on the school. Around here (quite a way from Brisbane but similar situation re fees) many families who would otherwise pay govt fees of the order you mention, actually send their kids to Catholic schools where they pay c $3000 pa. The independent private schools like Brisbane Grammar etc charge around the $12K - $15K pa.

Search for PaulandNic he'll be able to help you with that question as he came on a student visa as well.
