Saw an interesting political ad today
The candidate actually outlined what he would do to make things better for people in Brisbane.
All the adverts I've seen so far have described how evil and corrupt the opposition is! One even stated that if the opposition were elected, Brisbane would be bankrupt!
Are there slander laws here, or can people just say what they want on TV? Party politics are much more interesting here.

Campbell. He was talking about easing traffic congestion. Didn't say how, just said he would!

He's talking about building $billions of tunnels throughout Brissy, I think that's where his opponent Tim Quinn may be suggesting bankruptcy!

I remember one Politician, in NSW, who said he would remove the Toll from a motorway if he was re-elected.
He was re-elected, and increased the toll !!!!

They actually did remove the tolls in a bizarre manner. On the M4 and M5 (not sure about the M2) and certainly not the ED and HB you can claim back the toll minus the GST. You must have a E-tag and you have to fill out a form every quarter.

So now, you pay your toll and have to claim it back. In fact it's worse than that - to claim it back you have to have an account, which means you have to deposit a lump sum of money into your toll account, the toll is deducted from your account each time you use the road and every now and again you get a cheque back from Bob Carr. It's unbelievably complicated!
