Salary Change Since Arrival
Given the cost of living rises and the suggestion that a lot of migrants seem to take pay cuts initially, I thought it would be interesting to see what happens to migrant salaries over time.
You can post as an absolute figure if you wish although a percentage would ease comparison. For consistency please calculate the percentage as in the following example: Arrival in 2006. Original salary $40000. Salary in 2011 $60000. So (60000/40000) x 100= 150% Please remember to state the year of arrival. (NB Whether you change jobs or get promoted isn't important. Just interested in the change to income to see if things really do improve for migrants) |

Mind you I seem to have less money left at the end of the month than back then! |
Re: Salary Change Since Arrival
Unless a person is promoted and subsequently given a pay increase, salary should be relative to inflation (although a lot of employers won't do that).

However, his forces pension is now only worth 70% of what it was with the exchange rate in 2006..... |

1785% I did start on a very very low salary at the time mind so I thought the number would look pretty weird. 6493% based on what was deemed to be the average way of viewing GBP to AUD ie 2.2 to 1! |
Re: Salary Change Since Arrival
I couldnt comment seeing as I havent migrated yet, but what I would be interested in are the jobs/fields where theses pay rises/cuts occurred......?
