Does anyone know if there is a big difference between salaries in Sydney and Brisbane? Or a website where I can check this out? I am in marketing and partner in HR.

I'm in IT and i'm a contractor ... i'm going to be getting about $10's an hour less in brisbane than i got when i was contracting in sydney

not sure if that helps but it seems about right to me

Thanks...am trying to work out if we might be better off in Brissy....have always had our hearts set on Sydney, but just testing the water and doing my research now )

Yeah i think sydney is awesome but we're going to brissie

to be fair, i've been quite lucky, the head office for the company i'm going to work for is based in brisbane so i'm there for 6 months... if we like it we'll stay there .. if not i have the chance to transfer to sydney ..

but i would definately need a bit of a payrise if i go to sydney :scared:

edit: i think most things will be a similar price .. its just the accomodation that is pricey in sydney

Yeah, that's what I experienced when we visited both.... but that could be ab ig difference!

i used realestate.com.au to compare house prices in sydney and brisbane ... it might give you an idea of what you could afford

Cost of living in Sydney is higher than Brisbane, its not just the accommodation, thats why you need a higher salary in Sydney.

I dont live in Sydney, I live in Brisbane, but insurance (car & home & contents) & fuel are just 2 that spring to mind straight away.

i have found that white goods or electrical stuff is about the same up north
But as mrs D says the rest are cheaper
rent is about half price well as far as i can see.
mrs soapy will lose about a grand a year when we move north, but this will be made up in rent. i will earn about the same as i earn here, but i know im changing jobs
