Like you, I'm not a mechanical engineer & know little about automotive engineering, but I am am engineer & unlike you understand the concept of power to weight ratio & how to use power when & where it's needed. Luckily BMW know this too. The biggest engine does not make the fastest car, a concept you know nothing about considering the crap you drive. Sure in a 300km drag across the Nullabor, your General Motors heap of sh*t might just pip the BMW (but only just), but on any kind of track or urban environment, I'd knock your aussie ass into bogan orbit (where you belong with all the other ocker space cadets). Holden/GM, HSV (whatever that is), Ford (well maybe not the GT40, but as an aussie, you would not know anything about this) are crap with a capital C. My BMW M3, everything I've asked it to do, it's eaten it up & asked for more. Performance engineering at it's finest.
