Thumbs up Sacked apprentices reinstated on appeal

Two South Australian electrical apprentices, who were sacked by their employer, have had their positions reinstated.

Greg Garrard and Robert Elkson claimed they were laid off by their employer in Kadina, north-west of Adelaide, on the day the Federal Government's workplace changes came into effect in March.

Their case was taken to the South Australian Grievance Dispute Mediation Committee, which has upheld their complaint.

They will receive back pay.

Good Job! Let's just hope employers are not able to appeal and have a decision like this (made by a recognised independent authority) overturned under these new IR laws

If that's true then it's the company's own bloody fault. They shouldn't have been such smartasses.
