Default Rural Brisbane Areas

We're in Sydney but are thinking of buying some land or a land with a house on it in a ruralish area of Brisbane. So far recommendations from people I know have pointed me towards:
Ocean View
Samford Valley
Chambers Flat
Beachmere
Burpengary
Jimboomba

We are looking at somewhere no more than an hours commute to CBD (in ruush hour) either by car or train, and have around the $550k as a budget. What are folks on here thoughts of these suburbs and can anyone name anyplace better - ideally I'd like 3-5 acres of land.

I think Samford Valley would be too much and Ocean view is more then 1hour.

There are a few places in this area (cashmere) that might be ok fot that price.

one example

We looked around Chambers Flat and it's pretty good value in my opinion ... Jimboomba is too far out for you I'd say.

$550K will get you plenty in the Chambers Flat/Logan Village/Buccan vicinity.

We got our 3 and a half acres for $315K 6 months ago and the commute is about an hour to the CBD ... but only between Xmas and New Year

Good Luck,
Matt

Have a look at my recccie report on Brisbane here

Specifically look at the bit about Beachmere.

I would personally prefer Bunya or Brookfield.

Thanks for the info.

Staying with the Brisbane housing market and locations is there a view that a particular side of Brisbane is not 'as good' - for example in Sydney typically the East and North suburbs are the better (close to the sea, better schools, transport links etc) followed by the Southern suburbs and then the Western suburbs trail behind. Is there any basic stereotype like this that can be applied to Brisbane???

Western side is generally prone to more extreme temps - hotter in summer and colder in winter.
