RSMS visa-do we need skills assessment?
Been looking into RSMS visa-have seen mentioned do not need skills assessment.
Can anyone confirm this?
I have emailed DIMIA but can take a few days.
Thanks to anyone who can give us some light!

Normally no. Unless you are a 'qualified by experience' tradesman, IT person or senior manager, in which case it might be requested.
RSMS normally requires a diploma level qualification, although there may be complications if you are being sponsored for a degree level job and only are qualified to diploma level.
You really need professional assistance if you want to get into this in more detail.
Mainstream ENS does need a skill assessment unless you've worked for 2 years in Australia on a 457 or equivalent visa.
You may get more responses on the immigration forum, but don't hope for too much as RSMS is not a common visa.

I've also applied under ENS and also wasn't sure. I've been informed that is up to the discretion of the Case officer but have heard many confliting things so who knows....now I'm just waiting to hear something from DIMIA....If it's not required then I'll be there quite soon I'm hoping.

In it you'll find that for ENS you *do* need a skill assessment (in some cases state registration will substitute) unless:
- you've worked in Australia for 2 years on a 457 or similar visa; or
- you're being paid over a specifed amount, which I think is A$151k or so.
RSMS is a different visa - don't confuse the two.
If you applied before 2 April 2005, then rules may be different.
