Default RPL - what's it for ?

Hi,

I'm currently putting together my ACS application and I'm not too sure of the purpose of the RPL. As far as I can make out, it's about quantifying non-qualification experience ? I have a degree in Computing Science and hold MCSE, MCSD & MCDBA certs. Do I have to do the RPL or just get the standard skills assessment ?

Any help would be gratefully received :-)

That sounds like a straightforward standard skills test to me.

RPL is really for people who don't hold the necessary formal qualification - but have relevant experience.

RPL is only for those who do not have formal qualifications in IT. If you have a
degree with a major in IT that's considered equivalent to an Australian bachelors,
that should be enough for ACS.

ACS wouldn't require work experience to assess you in that case, but you would still
need 12 months skilled (in any skilled occupation) work experience in the last 18
months before application to satisfy the DIMA work experience requirement. That is
only assessed by DIMA after you apply for migration.
